double berry smoothie {gf,v}

It's been a couple months since we embarked on the Dr. Oz detox cleanse. (post here) Since it was an all smoothie cleanse...for three days...I really wasn't sure when I'd want another smoothie...if ever. But, here we are. That day has arrived. But this time it's on my terms with my own it's welcomed with open arms (er, mouth?) While it's tempting to make an all fruit smoothie, it's such a good opportunity to hide some green stuff. My go-to green ingredient is spinach. It plays well with others, letting the berry flavors shine. A dollop of almond butter adds some protein. And the blueberries and raspberries provide a nice punch of antioxidants. It's the perfect solution to a quick & easy lunch. Now if only the blender would clean itself...


double berry smoothie
{gluten free, vegan}

*1 medium frozen banana
*1 cup frozen blueberries
*1/2 cup raspberries
*1 cup almond milk
*1 cup spinach
*1 heaping tbsp shredded coconut
*1 heaping tbsp almond butter

1.Place the almond milk and spinach in blender until spinach is blended well.
2.Add in the banana until blended.
3.Add the remaining ingredients. (I like to leave out the almond butter and add after everything is blended)
4.Serve immediately.

Serves 1
